8-12 Special Education Teacher
I grew up in Vancouver and worked as a high school Science /Math teacher and a dance instructor before moving to Kelowna to start a family. I had the privilege to homeschool for a time and have continued to be blessed as I support other homeschooling families.
I completed a BSc. in Kinesiology, a Masters in Disability Studies, and have been a teacher for over 30 years, with more than 15 years in Inclusive Education. I have taught in classrooms at both the primary and high school levels, as well as case managed as an Inclusive Education Teacher (K-12) with Central Okanagan Public Schools and online schools.
Throughout my career, I have advocated for individuals with diverse abilities. I taught adapted dance classes for community organizations, promoted accessibility while on the Board of Directors of a creative-arts Non-Profit Society, participated in co-piloting the OPTIONS program for the School District – facilitating social and life skill development – which also ran in connection for the Family Connection Center (FCC) for several years. Additionally, I am a Certified Life Coach focusing on coaching for those with neuro-diversities (Autism/ASD-coaching etc.).
When not working, I enjoy spending time outdoors in God’s amazing creation – hiking, biking, camping and snowshoeing. I also love connecting with family and friends for a board game, book club or just sharing a meal.
